       During the year 2013-14, Anna Institute of Management has conducted 366 training programmes benefiting  about   9586 officers.

       Anna Institute of Management offers training to officers of the Government of Tamil Nadu, Public Sector Undertakings, Government of India and other State Governments in the areas of Human Resources Management, Behavioural Science, Disaster Management, Information Technology, e - Governance, Right to Information Act, Quality Management, Project Management, Personality Development, etc.

        Apart from the regular training programmes being conducted at Anna Institute of Management, some of the noteworthy programmes conducted during 2013-2014 are as follows:

  • Conducted Intensive Training Programme(ITP) at three districts simultaneously viz. Kancheepuram, Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli.

  • Conducted training programme on “Sustainable Urban Transport” in association with Institute of Urban Transport, Ministry of Urban Transport.

  • Conducted training programme for Entrepreneurship Development Institute for the first time.

  • Conducted training programme on World Bank Procurement Procedures for IAMWARM Project Officers for the first time

  • Conducted Master Trainers Programme for Election officials

  • Conducted Consumer Awareness Workshop for the Self Help Group Members in collaboration with Civil Supplies & Consumers Protection Department for the first time.

  • Workshop on Formulation of State Disaster Management Plan (SDMA) was conducted in collaboration with NIDM and Comissionerate of Revenue Administration Disaster Management and Mitigation.

  • Commenced training programmes in all the 3 Regional centres of Anna Institute of Management at Trichy, Madurai and Salem.

  • Training Of Trainer for Heavy Vehicle Factory, Avadi Trainers.

  • Conducted training programmes through Sevottem Cell which was newly established in Anna Institute of Management.

  • Conducted training programme for Headmasters working in Adi Dravidar Welfare schools for the first time.

  • Conducted training programme for TWAD Board Ministerial Staff on Office Procedures

  • Conducted training programme for the Ministerial Staff working in Various Government Hospitals with funds under TNHSP training component.

  • Disaster Management programme exclusively for Revenue Officials like Deputy Tahsildar, Tahsildars and Deputy Collectors was organized.

  • Training on salesmanship and Public Relations for the Salesman working in Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation owned Departmental Stores was conducted as a new initiative.

  • Conducted training on Effective Management for Doctors working in Government Ayurvedic Sidda & Unani Hospitals

  • Conducted training programme for Registrars, Deputy Registrars and Administrative Officers working in various Universities in collaboration with State Council for Higher Education

  • ? Conducted residential training on Good Governance Programme for all India ITS Officers.

  • ? Conducted for the first time an Awareness programme for IFS Aspirants.(To prepare them for UPSC exam)


Anna Institute of Management has a Disaster Management Cell established in the year 1995, which is designated as a Nodal Agency for imparting Disaster Management Training to officers of various departments of Government of Tamil Nadu. The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India provides support for the Disaster Management Cell. The Cell is also conducting Training Programmes, sectorwise, on various aspects of disasters as recommended by a high-powered committee, constituted by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The Disaster Management Cell has so far conducted nearly 300 Disaster Management Training Programmes benefiting nearly 7000 officials, since its inception.


    Rigorous training programme for stake holders including Public Information Officers / Assistant Public Information Officers on the various aspects and provisions of the Act is regularly conducted by Anna Institute of Management. Anna Institute of Management conducts special training on popularizing Right to Information Act 2005 to the officials of the Districts of Cuddalore and Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu. This assignment is sponsored by United Nations Development Programmeme (UNDP), and coordinated by Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India. During the year 2009-10, Government of India sponsored another Project viz. Strengthening Capacity Building and Awareness Generation for effective Implementation of RTI Act 2005. Through this Project, we have conducted orientation Programmes and awareness programmes in 31 Districts in the State. So far Anna Institute of Management conducted Programmes for 8356 Public Information Officers. Besides we conducted awareness programmes for 6182 Women Self Help Group Members in 31 Districts. Based on the feed back GOI sponsored similar project to our Institute.

     The Anna Institute of Management is implementing a special project of propagating the components of Right to Information Act in all the districts of Tamil Nadu. During the first phase, 16 districts were covered with a total outlay of `9.88 lakhs. GOI also sanctioned the second phase training for the remaining 16 Districts in Tamil Nadu.

     GOI through department of Personnel & Training sanctioned a new project towards implementation of plan scheme Training for All-Intensive Training Programme in three new Districts of Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kancheepuram vide sanction No: 103 Dt: 05.06.2012 to conduct both computer training programmes (5 days) and Management Development Programmes (3 days).


     AIM has been upgraded as Administrative Training Institute vide G.O.Ms.No. 187, dated 22.10.1999. With advent of this G.O. foundation training courses for Group A and B officers have been shifted from Bhavanisagar to Anna Institute of Management, Chennai.

     The nomenclature of the Director, Anna Institute of Management, Chennai has been changed as Director, Anna Institute of Management, and the Director General of Training (Ex- officio).
